Gracie Jiu Jitsu

Gracie Jiu Jitsu (GJJ) is a grappling-based martial art whose central theme is the skill of controlling a resisting opponent in ways that force the opponent to be defeated. Due to the fact that control is generally easier on the ground than in a standing position, much of the technique of Gracie Jiu Jitsu (GJJ) is centered round the skill of taking an opponent down to the ground and grappling for dominant control positions from where the opponent can be rendered harmless.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu Program

Trounce Jiu Jitsu is a proud member of the Jiu Jitsu Global Federation (JJGF) lead by Red/Black Belt Rickson Gracie. We focus on teaching our students high quality self-defense techniques that will prepare them for a street fight. Just like at any school our students are given a curriculum that guides each individual in their learning and development. Our program is designed to give each student a clear path to black belt that does not require that a student competes but gain the skills through drilling, sparring and testing. Students also have the opportunity to  schedule private lessons with their instructors. Through private lessons students can grow and learn at a faster pace. Our lineage here at Trounce is Helio Gracie - Royler Gracie - Wellington Dias - Patrick Robinson - Nick Pollaro. Tuition is $100.00 for this program and some scholarships are available.

Kids & Youth Gracie Jiu Jitsu Program

Over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year. We instruct children from the age of 5 to 15 in Gracie Jiu Jitsu in how to increase self confidence, how to interpret the behavior around them (the five rules of engagement), and how to defend themselves if being physically attacked.

In fact, defending against an attack is not all about a physical fight, instead it is more about dismantling a bully by using mental strength and negotiation skills before the fight even happens.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu is different from most martial arts programs, in that other martial arts rely on striking the attacker with violent punches, kicks, knees, and elbow. Our Bully Prevention Program, instead, takes a different approach by teaching techniques that are purely defensive and utilize fewer strikes. Trounce the Tortoise is the mascot for the Kids & Youth Gracie Jiu Jitsu Program. Tuition is $90.00 for this program.
